Creating Halloween Looks with Oil Based Face Paint

The first thing you need to know is that this look is easy to create. It all starts with a "base" color, and for this Halloween look, I chose to start with a vibrant orange oil based face paint (ya know - the cheap paints you find at local grocery stores). You start off painting from your forehead down to your chest in the orange and then set with a translucent powder. What is translucent powder? It's usually white in color and doesn't transfer any type of color.

The powder is essential for cheap oil-based face paint because it helps "set" and get rid of that shine you see. It also helps you from sweating off the paint.

The second thing you need to know is that it's not all about the paint. Sometimes it's about using powder or shadow based colors. For instance, the details are outlined lightly before really packing on the colors and shadows. It's a great way to focus on detail without compromising quality.
