Sip Into Summer with This Easy Kool-Aid Float Recipe

Ice cream floats are an ideal refreshing summer beverage for young children. Feel free to experiment with it in your home, and let me know what you think!

ICE-CREAM FLOATS

Ingredients:

  • 1 packet of unsweetened Kool-Aid drink mix (cherry, blue raspberry, or tropical punch work great)

  • 1 cup cold water or coconut water (instead of 2 cups for a more concentrated flavor)

  • 1/2 cup sugar (adjust to taste)

  • 1 tablespoon lemon or lime juice (adds brightness and depth)

  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional – enhances the flavor base)

  • 3 cups ice (instead of 4 – gives a smoother texture)

  • 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream (high quality for best results)

Instructions:

  1. In a blender, combine the Kool-Aid powder, sugar, lemon/lime juice, vanilla extract, and water. Blend until sugar dissolves.

  2. Add ice and blend until it reaches a slush consistency.

  3. Pour into a tall glass and top with 1–2 scoops of vanilla ice cream.

  4. Optionally garnish with whipped cream, maraschino cherry, or a straw and umbrella for fun.

PS. You can infuse vodka with Jolly Ranchers, much like Skittles or Starburst candies. Put your favorite flavor in the vodka for about 8-12 hours without shaking, and then chill it in the freezer for a few hours.
