MERRITT ISLAND, FL - It was 14 years ago, back in 2007, when I first crossed paths with Alicia "Red" Campitelli. Our rendezvous took place in Florida, where we delved into the captivating realm of model photography. Our adventures primarily unfolded along the coastal East Coast and in the vibrant city of Orlando. Alicia, accompanied by her redheaded twin sister Alana, graced the camera with their mesmerizing presence. These two remarkable women possessed not only stunning beauty but also distinct personalities that left an indelible mark on anyone fortunate enough to meet them. As redheads, we shared an unspoken connection, a bond that effortlessly formed between us. Our fiery locks became an integral part of our identities, a defining feature that set us apart from the rest.
We dedicated countless hours to brainstorming innovative photoshoot ideas. I relished every moment spent capturing the beauty of both her and Alana through my lens. Our routine involved carpooling to Orlando for extensive model photography network shoots that stretched out for almost 12 hours each day. Time seemed to effortlessly slip away as the models effortlessly transitioned between multiple outfits, revamped their hairstyles, and perfected their makeup. Networking played a vital role in shaping our portfolios and paving the way for our careers. It's remarkable to witness how many members of these network clubs have gone on to achieve remarkable success in various artistic fields.
During this time, Alicia embarked on her piercing journey in the vibrant city of Cocoa Beach, Florida. Her passion for the art of piercing and her ease with needles made her a natural fit for this craft. After meticulously observing countless piercings and successfully completing health and safety courses, she eagerly embraced her apprenticeship period and commenced her piercing endeavors. Filled with enthusiasm, she managed to persuade me to take a seat in her chair, becoming one of the fortunate few to experience her skill firsthand. Alicia's exceptional eyesight and coordination were merely the foundation of her talents. Her passion for connecting with diverse individuals propelled her to become one of the most highly regarded piercers in Brevard County, as her clients consistently recommended her services.
Alicia possessed a remarkable charm, effortlessly embracing everyone's imperfections and becoming an extraordinary companion. Her forgiving nature, lack of judgment, and genuine care made her a beacon of love. Alicia was a true believer in accepting people as they are and loving them unconditionally. Despite her own struggles with addiction, she emerged victorious and dedicated herself to advocating for those still fighting their own battles.
Marking over five years of sobriety, Alicia took immense pride in sharing her story and using her voice to rescue others from the clutches of addiction. Interestingly, it was through our friendship that she crossed paths with my younger sister, who was fighting her own battle against addiction. Alicia's journey has not only inspired my sister but also countless others to break free from the chains of addiction and rediscover meaning in their lives.
It was absolutely heart-wrenching to discover that Alicia's life was tragically cut short on May 15th, 2021. The news hit like a tidal wave, leaving everyone in shock and disbelief. Adding to the sorrow, her fiancé Philip Keller was apprehended on May 20th, facing a slew of serious charges, including First Degree Premeditated Murder, Grand Theft, Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card, and Tampering with Evidence. The whole situation is simply unfathomable and has left a deep void in the hearts of those who knew and loved Alicia.
The magnitude of this tragedy was beyond comprehension, and it was truly awe-inspiring to see the countless lives that Alicia touched. Her story and unwavering determination served as a beacon of inspiration for so many, and she possessed remarkable strength and compassion. Alicia's laughter was contagious, her sense of humor was delightful, and her radiant smile could brighten up any room. Not to mention, she had an incredible knack for creativity and a vibrant personality that made her truly unforgettable.
The community, numerous friends, and her family are all deeply affected by the passing of an extraordinary individual. Alicia "Red" Campitelli's impact on every person she touched during her 35 years will forever be remembered. Her memory will endure, and her powerful advocacy under #RedStrong will continue to shape the lives she touched, even in her absence.
